Choose the most appropriate season

Bird-watching can be good throughout the year even if spring and autumn are considered as the best periods. The lakes are fished in late autumn and winter. The best time to come obviously depend on what one wants to see and do.

What you mustn’t come without

Don’t forget your walking shoes (rubber boots in winter), binoculars and even a telescope if you have one.

How to get the Brenne

By road : The A 20 toll-free motorway exit 13.1 if coming from the north or exit 17 if coming from the south

By rail : Tours or Poitiers railway stations and car hire. Both have easy links with London via Lille.

Also accessible by train via the following stations : Châteauroux, Argenton-sur-Creuse, Poitiers (with bus service to Brenne) or Châtellerault (no direct bus service)

By bus : some tourist accommodation can be reached by bus from Châteauroux station.
