Description
Lancosme, a seigneury dating back to the 13th century, extended over a large part of the Lancosme Forest. The Lancosme Forest, from the Latin “longus ulmus” (long elm), is the largest forest in the Brenne region, covering approximately 4,000 hectares. The 15th-century castle on the banks of the Claise River served as the site of an agricultural school from 1945 to 1985.
