Known locally as ‘The Land of a Thousand Lakes’, La Brenne harbours a rich tapestry of habitats including marshes, deciduous woods, dry heathland and farmland. Guides’ knowledge of La Brenne together with the access they have to private estates, makes our tour very special.

The area visiting has nearly twice the number of butterflies compared with Britain and, as La Brenne is not an extensive area, most of the habitats visiting are within a short drive of your comfortable accomodation.

But the Brenne is not only known for its butterflies, dragonfly lovers will also be satisfied. The natural park harbour a rich tapestry of habitats ideal for dragonflies and other wildlife including marshes, marginal land, deciduous woods, dry heathland and farmland. This is an ideal holiday for the dragonfly enthusiast as well as those with additional interest in butterflies, wild flowers and birds.

For birdwatching, it's at dawn or dusk that Brenne nature reveals itself at its best : purple herons, egrets, black-necked grebes... take full advantage of the tranquility of the ponds. This, therefore, is an ideal trip for the all-round naturalist, or the botanist, entomologist or birdwatcher who prefers more relaxed natural history outings.
